Greyhounds for adoption

Below are some Greyhounds we currently have in foster care.

We may have other Greyhounds not listed below that are waiting to join us, so we encourage you to fill in an Adoption Application found under ‘What We Do – Adoption’ and we will be in touch.

  • Clifford

    (Go Clifford)
    4 years old
    Ready for adoption
    North Island

This big handsome boy will be sure to brighten up your day. He's always happy and is an absolute smoocher loving nothing more than a big cuddle. Having been through the RTR programme Clifford is still on lead walks or off lead in a small space at home (so he can't do crazy zooms). He loves to be around you when you are home but is equally good at relaxing once he's had his walk. Clifford can be unsure of new people at times but quickly gets used to those around him. He has been doing great on walks especially with his friends. He would love someone home a lot and another dog to keep him company for the times you are away. He is a big boy and can be bouncy and although he's been learning not to, he will at times. Preferably a home without small children as he does lack spacial awareness! If you spend time to understand Clifford 'the big red dog' you will be blessed with an awesome friend.

  • Carty

    (Cawbourne Carty)
    4 years old
    Ready for adoption
    Auckland

If you want a hound who's happy to see you when you arrive home, can chill out by themselves when alone, who is a super traveller and loves affection and playing with toys then Carty is the man for you. Although he loves life, Carty would do best in a home with some dog experience and without children due to his food motivation and times over exhuberance and no cats please. He would prefer to be an only dog with a single person or couple who have a garden to zoom and relax in and hang out with at home or walk the quiet suburban streets. As long as you let him know the rules he will give you all the love and more.

  • Belle

    (Wonder Woman)
    5 year old
    Ready for adoption
    Auckland

A lovely, sweet playful girl once she overcomes her shyness and gets to know you.  She loves all hounds and would really like a home with a buddy to hang out with. Happy to hang out while you are out and about and snooze the day away with her favourite toy/pillow octopus! Belle is not the bravest of girls but she's learning fast. She does need a confident companion both hound and human to show her the way. Belle has a super sweet nature and will do best in a less busy home.

  • Clara

    (You ready Boots)
    5 years old
    Ready for adoption
    Hamilton

A shy girl who would love a hound buddy (or 2) to hold her paw as she learns about pet life. A quiet home with humans who love being at home whether for work or play will be rewarded with a sweet, gentle, loving girl. Clara has taken a few months to relax into a home environment and her confidence is still building but should you open your heart to her she will show you that she has a little sass, a playful side and will smooch too. She would do best in a quiet home with a male greyhound (goofy males are her favourite!) who would be happy to play with her and show her the ropes.

  • Zorro

    (Thrilling Dodge)
    3 year old
    Ready for adoption
    North Waikato

Loves his walks and cuddles. A confident, playful boy who can live as an only dog or with a female canine companion if you are away from home for work. Zorro is a foodie and easily trainable. He's not a social butterfly, preferring to enjoy a casual walk rather than join a busy gathering but he loves those he knows.

Currently in foster with other hounds and a spaniel he will be your best buddy and walking companion.

  • Emma

    (Opawa Emma)
    4 years old
    Ready for adoption
    North Waikato

A super sweet girl who loves hanging out when you're home but independent too. Happy to laze around or take a stroll. Friendly, confident and a happy go lucky nature, Emma adapt well in any home. Children over 8 years preferred and she can be an only hound or live with another compatible canine. A real foodie she's easily trainable and will be a fun family member. Emma has an eye condition which means daily drops are required but she's a star with having them.

  • Olive

    (unraced)
    2.5 year old
    Currently in foster
    South Island

All puppy at heart but with better manners. Pint sized happy, waggy girl with a real zest for life and big love for people. An injury as a youngster means that Olive is a tripaw. This doesn't stop her ability to spin and hold her own with the best of them.

  • Kirsten

    (Opawa Kirsten)
    3 year old
    Currently in foster
    Cambridge

Kirsten will love you and more. A busy girl she loves a good walk, visiting her fans at the shops or cafe and will snuggle on the sofa all night. She did sustain a fractured hock whilst racing which has been professionally repaired and rehabbed so no crazy zoomies allowed. She still loves a play, companionship and living life.

  • Jess

    (Rowdy's Message)
    5 years old
    Ready for adoption
    New Plymouth

Sweet, sassy and a lover of water. A confident and playful girl who is inquisitive about the world. Loves other dogs and getting out and about as well as chilling in her bed or in the pool. Jess is an awesome girl who would love a family to join in activities with and a parent who works from home part of the time.

  • AmieKay

    (AmieKay)
    4 year old
    Ready for adoption
    Dunedin

Good with all dogs, playful, easy going and a great adventure buddy! Amiekay is relaxed and easy-going, often found flopped on the carpet without a care in the world. But when the mood strikes? That helicopter tail gets going and she’ll greet you with a burst of happy energy! She’s an inquisitive soul who loves to check in on what you’re up to — just in case it involves her. She brings a little sparkle, a lot of heart, and the perfect mix of calm with a dash of cheeky!

  • Lisa

    (Portland Lisa)
    4 year old
    Ready for adoption
    Waikato

Sweet petite Lisa is a little wee girl with an easy nature and a touch of sass. She loves a cuddle so make sure there's space in the sofa! Oh and check out her underbite! Lisa loves to play with her toys, getting out about town and her meal times. She'd be best in a home with older children for those moments of exuberance and giddies. A smart hound, Lisa is a quick learner so if you are looking for a fun, cuddly girl to teach tricks to then Lisa is the one for you!

  • Austin

    (Goldstar Austin)
    4 year old
    Ready for adoption
    Christchurch

Austin has been in foster for a few months and loves to have the company of fellow greyhounds.

He finds the world overwhelming at times so a quiet, gentle approach is needed for him to continue to grow in confidence. He's a smart boy and very curious. Austin would do well as part of a quiet adult only household with another confident greyhound.

  • Izzy

    7 year old
    Currently in foster
    Christchurch

Izzy is playful, fun-loving, and full of life. She’s already experienced home life and was returned through no fault of her own, so she’s well-versed in family living and ready for her second chance.Izzy is great with kids and would thrive as an only dog or with another dog of a similar size. She gets along well with other dogs, though sometimes forgets her own size when playing.

  • Jericho

    (Goldstar Jericho)
