Greyhounds for adoption

Below are some Greyhounds we currently have in foster care.

We may have other Greyhounds not listed below that are waiting to join us, so we encourage you to fill in an Adoption Application found under ‘What We Do – Adoption’ and we will be in touch.

  • Clifford

    (Go Clifford)
    4 years old
    Ready for adoption
    North Island

This big handsome boy will be sure to brighten up your day. He's always happy and is an absolute smoocher loving nothing more than a big cuddle. Having been through the RTR programme Clifford is still on lead walks or off lead in a small space at home (so he can't do crazy zooms). He loves to be around you when you are home but is equally good at relaxing once he's had his walk. Clifford can be unsure of new people at times but quickly gets used to those around him. He has been doing great on walks especially with his friends. He would love someone home a lot and another dog to keep him company for the times you are away. He is a big boy and can be bouncy and although he's been learning not to, he will at times. Preferably a home without small children as he does lack spacial awareness! If you spend time to understand Clifford 'the big red dog' you will be blessed with an awesome friend.

  • Carty

    (Cawbourne Carty)
    4 years old
    Ready for adoption
    Auckland

If you want a hound who's happy to see you when you arrive home, can chill out by themselves when alone, who is a super traveller and loves affection and playing with toys then Carty is the man for you. Although he loves life, Carty would do best in a home with some dog experience and without children due to his food motivation and times over exhuberance and no cats please. He would prefer to be an only dog with a single person or couple who have a garden to zoom and relax in and hang out with at home or walk the quiet suburban streets. As long as you let him know the rules he will give you all the love and more.

  • Clara

    (You ready Boots)
    5 years old
    Ready for adoption
    Hamilton

A shy girl who would love a hound buddy (or 2) to hold her paw as she learns about pet life. A quiet home with humans who love being at home whether for work or play will be rewarded with a sweet, gentle, loving girl. Clara has taken a few months to relax into a home environment and her confidence is still building but should you open your heart to her she will show you that she has a little sass, a playful side and will smooch too. She would do best in a quiet home with a male greyhound (goofy males are her favourite!) who would be happy to play with her and show her the ropes.
    Not cat trainable.

  • Vargas

    (Goldstar Vargas)
    5 years old
    Ready for adoption
    Auckland

Sweet, gentle and easy going Vargas has entered foster like she's done it all before. Confident, calm and a real people lover Vargas has taken trips to the beach, been loved by the local school kids and chilled out when at the cafe. Vargas would be a wonderful addition to any family and is ready for adoption now.

    3 year old
    Ready for adoption
    North Waikato

Loves his walks and cuddles. A confident, playful boy who can live as an only dog or with a female canine companion if you are away from home for work. Sadly his trial with a family didn't work out but he really will be your best buddy and walking companion!

    (Amalthea)
    3 years old
    Ready for adoption
    South Island

This bubbly black beauty is not only cat trainable but also cuddly too. She is playful and likes to be busy but will relax and rest with her people. She can spend time alone as long as she gets her daily activity. Moon has wonderful manners and gets along great with other dogs.

  • Louie

    (Retread Pete)
    3 year old
    Ready for adoption
    South Island

This calm gentleman has great manners he’s well settled into pet life and knows how to relax – especially in his signature roach pose! He has moments where he bounds around like a big puppy but is just as happy chilling out. Louie really thrives with another dog around – he takes the lead from his buddy and would love a home with a doggy friend. Smart, affectionate, and always keen to please, Louie is a total sweetheart who enjoys his daily outings and quality time with his people.

    5 years old
    Ready for adoption
    New Plymouth

Sweet, sassy and a lover of water. A confident and playful girl who is inquisitive about the world. Loves other dogs and getting out and about as well as chilling in her bed or in the pool. Jess is an awesome girl who would love a family to join in activities with and a parent who works from home part of the time.

  • Tulip

    (unnamed)
    2 year old
    Ready for adoption
    Greater Hamilton area.

Our wee Tulip is a shy girl but once she gets to know you she'll adore you. She would like a canine companion to help build her confidence but is good with other dogs and cat trainable too! A quieter home would probably suit her best. She has been really growing while in foster and has been out and about with her canine buddy to parks, cafes and town. Tulip is great with other dogs and would love a home with another dog to continue her growth. Cat trainable too, Tulip is ready for a home of her own, and she’ll adore you!

  • Aubry

    (Zipping Aubry)
    6 year old
    Ready for adoption
    Auckland

A gentle, confident boy who is loving his young human foster siblings. Very food motivated he's easy to train but is more than happy to laze around while you do the chores around him! Aubry is loving home life and is a real family hound who enjoys home activities, walking the human foster siblings to school and venturing around the neighbourhood. Aubry did sustain an injury while racing and is fully fit and healthy but won't be allowed to do crazy zoomies off lead. As a boy who loves his walks he will be happy in any home environment.
    Not cat trainable.

  • Polo

    (Big Time Polo)
    4.5 year old
    Ready for adoption

A gentle softie who is great with kids and good with other dogs. He loves to explore and play before staking him self out on the nearest bed, sun spot or cool space. A super chill lad, can live with other dogs or as an only hound. Good with kids of various ages.

Waiting in the Wings

Greyhounds soon to join our care.

We encourage you to fill in an adoption form, that way if one of our soon to be newcomers matches, we can let you know!

  • Benny

    (Loyal Rock)
    2 year old

Benny would love a family to walk and play with. As a young boy he has some maturing to do which is perfect to do as he grows with you. He could be too much for younger children. He is very people friendly and loves other dogs too. A canine companion would be right up his alley. He would suit an active family and can deal with busier urban environments.
    Not cat trainable.

  • Emma

    (Opawa Emma)
    4 years old
    North Waikato

A super sweet girl who loves hanging out when you're home but independent too. Happy to laze around or take a stroll. Emma has an eye condition which means daily drops are required but she's a star with having them. Emma is currently hanging out in her trainer's home.
    Cat trainability to be updated.
